The Inspiration of a Purple Iris

Art by Vonnie
The iris is one of my favorite flowers. Colorful flowers always represent hope and promise to me. As I painted this piece and most of my florals, I thought about how dormant the flower lays for the winter months and it looks as though it's beauty is gone forever, never to return. Then one day, it's bright beautiful head springs forth from the earth bringing new life. Those flowers bring a song to my soul!
When I'm feeling desolate or hopeless, I think of the miracle of the flowers and how they survive long hard winters. It gives me hope and I know that I too, just like the flowers will bloom once again.

The Inspiration of a Seascape

Art by Vonnie
The family was in Fripp Island this summer. I was enjoying a beautiful afternoon on our deck over looking the ocean. This particular path meandering through the seascape really caught my eye. I found my paints and began to work at that moment. The mixture of sky, sea, sand and foliage all blended together to make a little paradise.

The Inspiration of Pink Tulips

Art by Vonnie
I'm always inspired by the beauty of flowers - they soothe my soul. It's just as soothing to create a flower through painting and to see it unfold. To capture the splendor of flowers is an ongoing quest for me.

The Inspiration of a Mountain Meadow

Art by Vonnie
This painting was created for my mother, Essine. She owns the original. I thought of her softness and unending road of unconditional love. She loves simple pleasures in life just like this
rolling mountain meadow. I felt very peaceful painting this piece.

"I am My Own Work of Art"

"Like an artist painting a picture, I will pause, step back from the canvas and consider what needs to be done. This will be a day of reflection. As I hope to make my life a work of art, so may these moments of contemplation help me to turn back to the canvas of life to paint a portrait of my most perfect self."
"This day and every day hereafter, I will hold before my eyes the vision of what I am becoming."
Quote from Rokelle Lerner

About Me

United States
Let's see, I love beautiful things. I love to express my soul through my paintings. Singing is a huge part of who I am. I love people...I come to life when I'm connected to others. I have alot of love and compassion for animals. Good healthy food is very important to me. My husband has blue eyes and a nice size head. His forehead is high, which I am told, means a high level of intelligence! We have two beautiful dogs, Sadie and Anuk. Maintaining good stable mental health is important to me because I tend to go out into left field and maybe off the map every once in a while. Don't YOU? Enough about me...
